Dear 9th Grade Students,
Welcome to high school! This the beginning of four very important years in your life, and I am looking forward to a terrific start. I hope to get to know you this year, and I trust that you will never hesitate to ask me if you have questions or need help.
Bible class is also your homeroom, so we will take care of class business at the beginning of each period. Remember to be on time: Three tardies equals one absence.
For your Bible class you will need Bible Truths for Christian Schools/Level C, a KJV Bible, and notebook paper. We plan to read a supplementary book this year, Tortured for Christ; this book should be available for purchase in the office in October. We will read portions of the book together in class, but it will be your responsibility to complete the book and submit any required reports.
There are fifty-six lessons in the workbook; we will try to cover two each week. Remember there are only four Bible classes each week, as we usually have a chapel service every Friday during first period.
Your grades will come primarily from the verse memorization tests on Tuesdays and Fridays. Reading assignments and memorizing the verses will be the only homework you will have for this class. Other assignments, such as the questions at the end of each lesson, will be done in class. I will attach a schedule of the due dates for the verse tests; you will be required to write the verses from memory on notepaper.
It is my prayer that many years from now you will look back on your freshman year of high school with fond memories, and especially remember it as a time of spiritual growth. Keep your focus on Jesus; allow Him to be your strength, and everything else will fall into place. He loves you, He died for you, and He has a wonderful plan for your life!
Yours truly,
Mrs. Patricia Coble
